Xaman-Ha

(Water from the north 1300 to 1500 d.c.)

It is a very extensive site, organized around groups of monumental buildings that are aligned mainly to the shore. Its construction splendor is in the late post classic, being built with the east coast style. These buildings, besides being sanctuaries, helped to provide a reference for the prehispanic navigation.

Group "C" has 4 monumental temples besides another structure and a wall that protects them, these being the most important of the site.

The conqueror Francisco de Montejo founded here Salamanca de Xaman-Ha in the year 1528.
